Pregnancy Nutrition If
this is your first time pregnant, you might have heard many things about
pregnancy. Some people claim the
claim of “eating for two”, that it is natural eat the whole entire kitchen.
Perhaps, you have been told that it is acceptable to eat an entire
cheesecake, in one day, in one setting. As
much as it would be nice if these things were true, I hate to break it to you,
they simply are not. It is
understandable to give into cravings, as long as they are reasonable cravings.
For example, if you are craving a piece of cheesecake, it would be pretty
safe to say that after one piece, your craving would halt, and any other desire
to eat further, would simply be because you might be hungry.
If you fill yourself up on cheesecake, how will you get all the nutrients
your body needs from actual healthy things.
Do
you crave pickles and ice cream; if so go ahead and eat it?
Just do not eat a huge bowl of ice cream. In addition, enjoy each bite, you might find that the idea
was much nicer than the actual taste, which would also soon halt the desire to
continue eating. Also, instead of
thinking about all the unhealthy cravings one hears about, listen to your own
body, you might find yourself having a craving for sour apples, or fresh
squeezed orange juice with a side of sliced pineapples.
Also know that simply because you are craving something, does not mean
that it is a weird craving, it might just mean that your body is lacking
something, and through this craving is how it gets relieved.
For example, there are times when I just crave milk.
I just think of this as a way for my body to tell me something; message
received. Eating
healthy within pregnancy is not to different compared to when you were not
pregnant. If you ate unhealthy
before pregnancy, perhaps for your child’s sake, you could begin to eat
healthy. Get the idea out of your
head that you can eat whatever you want, simply because you are pregnant.
This mentality will take possible years and years of dieting to even come
close to your before pregnancy body. Eat
your vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean meats, drink your low fat milk.
Keep yourself and your baby healthy.
